Anniversary shoot

Last weekend we had our anniversary shoot. As always, we had Mark, who did our engagement, wedding, and previous anniversary shoot, this year as well. It’s really great when everyone is comfortable with each other and know what to expect during the shoot.

This years location was at Britannia Heritage Shipyard in Richmond. What a cool place to take photos. Not to mention the gorgeous weather we had.

Masayuki was having so much fun that he thought he would take some photos too!

We are really looking forward to seeing the photos and will post a couple of them when we get it.

Lunch with Oliver

Oliver was charming over lunch in Yaletown. He even flashed me a few smiles. Masayuki slept through most of it.  He woke up in time for Uncle Gilbert to nibble on him as dessert.

San Diego

This year we took a family vacation in San Diego.  Masayuki enjoyed a week in the sun taking in the sights with his shades.

3rd Anniversary

For this year’s anniversary photo shoot, it was pouring rain! We chose SFU for the covered walkways and fog. Mark, Reckless Abandon, did an amazing job in spite of the blasting rain and icy wind.

The anniversary became a family shoot when Masayuki joined us. He even cooperated with his classic smile. School pictures should be interesting…

Masayuki and Lili Birthday Party

Masayuki and Lili had a Hansel and Gretel theme party for their first birthday. They looked very cute in suspenders and shorts. Thank you to our friends and family for celebrating this milestone.

Halloween 2012

Masayuki dressed up as a bear for his first Halloween. He attended preschool with Reina and Lili, with a ton of other critters and goblins.

Unfortunately, he was too grumpy to go trick or treating. The Sekimoto kids went around the block and scored a mountain of treats.

Heat Wave

The last two weeks in Vancouver has been pretty hot, although not really a scorcher. Most of the days have been in the mid to high 20s. We decided that it would be a good idea to take advantage of this great weather.

Splashdown Park:

We planned to go to Splashdown on a Sunday because we had a Groupon for a family admission. Unfortunately, the fine print said “valid Monday – Thursday”. Thus, the family outing was delayed one day. It worked out well because Splashdown was less busy — shorter lineups and premium grass for the suntent. At first I was skeptical of the suntent, but it was handy in providing shade and a safe area for the babies.

White Rock Beach:

The Sekimotos went to the beach, while we went shopping. Ahh… Air conditioning on a hot summer day. We met up with them later where we made two discoveries. Firstly, Reina is a cracker monster. She can single handedly finish a large bag of popcorn. Here is proof:

Secondly, Masayuki’s kryptonite is GRASS! It gives him the heebie jeebies. It was funny to watch his adverse first interaction with grass.

Silhouette Art

This week Masayuki had his silhouette created by Karl Johnson at Hip Baby Victoria. AMAZING! The portrait turned out with true likeness — capturing Masa’s essence with the spiky hair and little beak. Two keepsakes of our little 8 month old.

The process was also a wonder to watch. Karl created the silhouettes freehand with just scissors in 5 minutes. Here’s a link to see Karl’s work.

Stokke High Chair, a set on Flickr.

We finally decided to get a high chair for Masayuki. After much research, we decided to go for the Stokke high chair. It’s build sturdy enough for an adult to sit. It’s going to be his chair for a life time.
